Moving west-northwest, Typhoon Imbudo approaches the southern coast of China on July 23, 2003. This Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from the morning of July 23, shows the storm stretched out over the South China Sea. At that time, sustained winds were about 90 knots, or 104 mph.

The Tropical Rainfall Measureing Mission captured these observations of Typhoons Koni and Imbudo as they dumped heavy rains across the Phillipines, southern China, and Vietnam over the week of July 15.

Super Typhoon Wipha was approaching the coast of China on the afternoon of September 18, 2007. At that time, Wipha had winds between 240 and 250 kilometers per hour, making it a strong Category 4 storm and a Super Typhoon (a typhoon with winds of at least 130 knots).
