This Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from July 20, 2003, shows Super Typhoon Imbudo engulfing the Philippines (left edge). The storm was moving northwest toward China, and on July 21, had sustained winds of 150 mph, with gusts up to 184.

The Tropical Rainfall Measureing Mission captured these observations of Typhoons Koni and Imbudo as they dumped heavy rains across the Phillipines, southern China, and Vietnam over the week of July 15.




Acquired October 5, 2009, this true-color image shows Super Typhoon Melor spanning hundreds of kilometers over the Pacific Ocean.
